Society Overview

MISSION: Restore, operate and maintain the Incline Railway on North Beacon Mountain, in the City of Beacon, New York and the Town of Fishkill, New York.

VISION: The Incline Railway will serve as a living museum and centerpiece asset in the restoration of the Mount Beacon summit as a scenic, historic educational and recreational resource.

STRATEGIC GOALS:

Restore, operate and preserve an integral piece of American industrial, engineering, transportation and leisure history;

Ally with other organizations to give back to the community via volunteer and philanthropic efforts;

Inform and educate the public in the Incline’s history via a multi-disciplined outreach effort and interactive museum;

Lead in the use of eco-friendly technologies and green building practices, setting the standard for a sustainable and environmentally sound business.

Founded in 1996, the Mount Beacon Incline Railway Restoration Society consists of members from across the Hudson Valley and beyond. This diverse organization is united in its efforts to restore incline railway service to the summit of Mount Beacon, offering the public unparalleled vistas and scenic beauty.

We are a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit Historical Society registered with the NY State Education Department, and we also hold a Provisional Charter issued by its Board of Regents.
